The gallery’s previous ticketing system had limited usability, poor UX and didn’t feature the Whitechapel Gallery branding.

The Whitechapel Gallery team needed a ticketing system that provided better UX on event pages, offered improvements to event labelling and ticket availability, and delivered a more seamless user journey throughout the purchase pathway.

To reach these goals, the team reached out for the support of our team. We began with an onboarding review as we do with all new clients. This looks at the site’s UX and overall functionality which enables us to highlight issues and areas where improvements can be made.

The previous system took users looking to book tickets to an external site and so, we integrated Spektrix as a new ticketing system to deliver an enhanced user experience. The entire purchasing journey now takes place within the Whitechapel Gallery website, with their branding and styling present throughout the purchasing pathway.

Through the use of Spektrix iframes, we have also enabled a single-basket experience. This allows users to make donations, sign up for memberships and purchase gift vouchers all through the same basket, without leaving the main website.

Additionally, we created a calendar modal to enhance the UX for customers looking to purchase tickets for specific events or exhibitions.

The Whitechapel Gallery hosts performances as part of these events and exhibitions. Through the calendar view, site visitors can view when these performances are happening and book tickets accordingly.

Our work has enhanced the user experience significantly, while also improving processes for the Whitechapel Gallery team by providing them with greater levels of control around ticket availability statuses. This in turn can help them to drive bookings more effectively.
